My name is Alexis McFadden

Educational Background:

I completed my B.S. in Biosystems Engineering with an emphasis in Ecological Engineering and a minor in Sustainability at Clemson University in 2022. I went on to earn my M.S. in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Kentucky in 2024, along with two graduate certificates in Stream and Watershed Science and Innovations at the Nexus of Food, Energy, and Water Systems.

Industry Work Experience:

I am currently an entry-level engineer in Louisville, Kentucky. I work on projects involving stream restoration and stormwater management in midwest/southeast states.

Tutoring Experience:

I have tutored math up to Differential Equations (commonly referred to as Calculus 4) and science including Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Biology at grade-level, Honors, and AP levels. I have also tutored language (English and Spanish). My students have had great outcomes as a result of my tutoring! 

I have over ten years of tutoring experience. When I tutor, I use my iPad to share my screen and do examples along with my students; I typically tutor remotely via Zoom. I am able to find and/or create practice problems for my students to complete, as well as provide guidance for other problems they might be unable to figure out from their classes. I have great organization and time management skills, as well as communication and teaching skills. 

Last school year, I tutored a student in Geometry and Chemistry and she saw her grades significantly improve; she also passed a test that allowed her to skip a math class when she gets to college. I also tutored a college student in Calculus 1 and 2, and she saw significant improvements in both her grades and her understanding of the course material. I am confident in my ability to help your student see improvements in their understanding of what they’re focusing on in their classes, while also providing an environment for them to start to actually enjoy the subjects. I am also well equipped to adapt my tutoring methods to fit your student's learning style and academic level, as I have previously tutored students in both K-12 and college.
